A nationally- coordinated protest against the recent policies of President Donald Trump took place across the U.S. Saturday, with Missourians weathering all-day rain to join in.
“Hands-Off!” protests were staged in towns including O’Fallon, Joplin, Columbia, Camdenton, St. Joseph, Springfield, St. Louis, and Rolla. About 600 gathered on the State Capitol steps in Jefferson City.
Thousands filled Country Club Park in Kansas City, as KMBC reports.
One of the sponsor organizations, Move On, stated, “What we witnessed today was nothing short of extraordinary. Across the country and around the world, people came together to say: we will not be silent while our rights, our futures, and our democracy are under attack,” said Rahna Epting, Executive Director, MoveOn.
Yvonne Albright, a retired nurse from Columbia, stood in the rain in Jefferson City. She told Missourinet, “I’m concerned about funding for Medicaid , Social Security, Medicare , public schools, National Parks. medical research, and too many other things to list. All to reduce taxes for the most wealthy people in our country.”
