Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., has Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley’s support for becoming the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. During Thursday’s Senate confirmation hearing, Hawley asked Kennedy about a Biden Administration rule requiring doctors who receive federal funding to provide gender transition care.
“Will you rescind this rule that imposes this radical policy – and talk about being anti science – this radical policy on just about every pediatrician in the United States of America?” Hawley said.
Kennedy answered, “Yes, I will.”
He told Hawley during Thursday’s hearing why he’s opposed.
“We don’t let (young) children drink. We don’t let them drive an automobile, because they have bad judgment,” Kennedy said. “They are flooded with hormones. Their brains are still in formation. Their sexuality is still in formation.”
Democrats, meanwhile, accused R.F.K. Junior of making unsubstantiated claims on the issue, including one where he allegedly claimed that exposure to pesticides could make a child transgender. Kennedy denies making that comment. According to CNN, Kennedy once said that endocrine disruptors, which can be found in pesticides and plastic, could possibly play a role in gender dysphoria and that it deserved further research.
