President Trump announced new tariffs over the weekend, which includes tariffs against Missouri’s largest trading partner – Canada.
Data from Missouri Partnership said in 2022, Missouri brought in $7.5 billion in products from north of the border, and the state sent $5.6 billion in exports up north. One Canadian company, eyecare maker Bausch and Lomb, has manufacturing and office spaces in St. Louis and St. Charles counties.
Magna International, an auto parts manufacturer in Ontario, operates a factory in the Kansas City area that produces underbody parts and seats for GM and Ford vehicles.
St. Louis-Lambert International Airport is the only Missouri airport that offers non-stop flights to Canada. Air Canada flies daily from St. Louis to Toronto and provides seasonal service to Montreal.
