The Kansas City Chiefs are AFC champions. Kansas City punched its ticket to Super Bowl 59 with a thrilling 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes completed 18-of-26 pass attempts for 245 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 11 times for 43 yards and two scores. Xavier Worthy finished with six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown while Kareem Hunt rushed for 64 yards and a TD. The Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in the last six seasons. They will face the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl 57 rematch.

The Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history during the Super Bowl era to win three straight titles. None of the previous eight back-to-back champs have played in a third straight Super Bowl, so the Chiefs have already made history.

“It’s an amazing achievement,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said. “It’s hard to even put into words what it means to have the opportunity that we will here in two weeks in New Orleans. So special.”

The win was the 17th of Mahomes’ playoff career, passing Joe Montana for second place all-time behind leader Tom Brady’s 35 playoff wins.

The Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons after blowing out the Washington Commanders 55-23 at Lincoln Financial Field. Jalen Hurts threw for 246 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Hurts, and star running back Saquon Barkley also ran for three scores apiece. Barkley led all rushers with 118 yards on 15 carries as the Eagles ran for 229 yards as a team.
