Some disappointing news for Missouri State University’s Marching Band. The inaugural parade was moved indoors and scaled back, forcing the Pride band to cancel its appearance.
Before the change in plans, Band director Brad Snow told Show Me Today that big events are the band’s jam.
“Our band is very fortunate to have some, you know, really impressive things on its resume, Macy’s parades, Rose Bowl parades, London New Year’s Day parades. So we’re excited that we get to add a new entry, you know, on the band’s wonderful history, and that’s being a participant in a Presidential Inaugural Parade,” said Snow.
Before the change in plans, MSU dean Shawn said being in major events, like the inauguration, is a great recruiting tool for the university.
“This especially leads to a tremendous sense of honor and pride because this is the first presidential inauguration that the band has performed at in its history. And so that’s really a big deal for us,” said Wahl.
Instead, the MSU Pride band turned its Sunday afternoon practice at Georgetown University into a full-fledged concert.
