Just over 10,000 deer were successfully hunted during Missouri’s alternative methods firearm season, which ended Tuesday. The exact number — 10,071 — is down slightly from last year’s season in which 12,496 deer were bagged.
Alternative methods include muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearms, centerfire pistols or revolvers that use expanding-type bullets such as lead and copper, and air-powered firearms.
During the ten-day season, hunters in Missouri killed 2,765 antlered bucks, 1,072 button bucks, and 6,234 does.
These numbers from the Department of Conservation are preliminary and could be updated later.
