Timken Belts plans to eliminate 97 jobs at its Springfield factory.
In a notice to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, the transmission belt manufacturer said the “mass layoff” is on track to happen between March of this year and March 2026.
The company does not give a reason for the “mass layoff.” Timken Belts said the decision is expected to be permanent.
Media reports say the company closed a South Carolina plant in 2023 and plans also plans to shutter one in Kansas this year.
