Missouri’s Congressional delegation is in Washington, D.C. today to vote to certify President-elect Donald Trump’s election win.

The U.S. Constitution requires Congress to meet and count the electoral votes.

Unlike the certification of President Joe Biden’s win on January 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters overtook the U.S. Capitol, Monday’s Congressional vote is expected to be without any major hitches.

Five people were killed and rioters vandalized the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley led the 2021 Congressional effort to challenge Biden’s election win.

In 2022, Congress passed a law raising the threshold necessary for members to object to a state’s electors, from one House and Senate member to at least one-fifth in each chamber.
