The snowfall is expected to leave Missouri Monday, but the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says it will take road crews most of the day to get major routes back in decent shape. MoDOT says it has about 1,500 snow plows operating until roads are in a mostly clear condition.

The National Weather Service has deemed travel in these conditions as “impossible.” Drivers are urged to continue to avoid traveling on roads through Monday.

The latest information on road conditions is available on MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map.

Monday is a day off for several Missouri schools. Several universities, including MU and Washington University in St. Louis, have also moved to work and hold classes remotely on Monday.

Some businesses could also be closed due to the weather.

Due to the cold temps and ice, the Missouri River Runner has canceled all train stops on Monday. Whether train service will resume Tuesday is unknown at this time. Updates are available here.

Power outages were reported Sunday in Missouri, including in the Cape Girardeau area, Perry County, and the Lake of the Ozarks region.

Missouri has activated about 200 National Guard members to help residents in need during the winter storm. They are primarily helping stranded drivers and clearing downed trees weighed down by ice.

If you have a plane to catch Monday in Missouri, there might be flight delays or cancellations because of the ice and cold temps. Flights were postponed or canceled Sunday because of the winter weather.

Missouri airports should have delays and cancellations posted online:

The cold temps are expected to remain in Missouri for most of the week. If you need a place to stay warm, the state has hundreds of designated warming centers.
