This weekend’s winter storm could be good for business at Missouri’s ski resorts.

D.J. Koch is general manager of Hidden Valley Ski Resort in St. Louis County. He told Missourinet that they don’t get as much snow as typical resorts in the northeastern U.S. and out west, but it’s not a problem.

“We have a wonderful team here that are prepared for anything, and the more snow, I think, is, is the better,” Koch said. “When we get natural snow, (it) really puts our guests around the area in that state of mind of, ‘Yeah, it’s wintertime. I want to go out and enjoy snow.’”

Most of this weekend’s snow is expected be north of I-70. Hidden Valley is just north of I-44 in rural St. Louis County and could see more ice than snow.

“We don’t usually get a whole lot of snow, but we make snow here and about 100% coverage just within a matter of time, depending on temperatures and humidity,” he said. “It’s a great place for beginners to start out at. We have enough terrain for any ability level.”

Snow is definitely expected at the Snow Creek Ski Area, a non-lodging ski resort near Weston in the Kansas City area. The site is included in the Winter Storm Warning that’s in effect from 6:00 p.m. Saturday through 3:00 a.m. Monday.
