Missouri Congressman Mark Alford is backing Mike Johnson to remain U.S. House Speaker. In a Facebook post, Alford said that Johnson is aligned with President-elect Donald Trump “to carry out the mandate that voters demanded.”
Two years ago, it took 15 votes to elect a Speaker. Today, @SpeakerJohnson is the leader we need. He’s aligned with Trump to carry out the mandate voters demanded.

Without coming out and saying whether he will back Johnson, southwest Missouri Republican Congressman Eric Burlison hopes that Johnson will fight harder this year to get more conservative results.
Several Republicans in Congress have vowed to vote against Johnson, in part over a recent one-thousand-page-plus spending bill he had supported that was heavily criticized on social media before it was drastically reduced.
