The 39th president of the United States died Sunday at the age of 100. Democrat Jimmy Carter died at his home in Plains, Georgia.
Carter lived longer than any other U.S. president in history.
Reaction of his death has poured in from Missouri Republican and Democratic leaders.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Carter family this evening.
President Carter was a true public servant, from the presidency to his acts of service in his community, which he continued late into his life.
100 years is a life well lived, may he rest in peace.

Deeply saddened to hear President Jimmy Carter passed away. President Carter was a humble public servant who dealt with many challenges during his tenure and spent his post-Presidential life deeply invested in giving back to his community. I am praying for his family.

Thank you to President Jimmy Carter for a lifetime of service to our country and our world.
Many of us knew him only after his career in elected office ended, but learned much from his decency, integrity, and lifelong commitment to service. May he rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/kDuYgoQbFq

Former President Carter was a bold truth-teller and spent his entire life exemplifying servant leadership. He dedicated his life to this country and serving the least of these.
He lived his life fully and with purpose. pic.twitter.com/AeegEPeqT8

According to the Carter Center, there will be public observances in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., followed by a private burial in Plains, Georgia. The final arrangements for President Carter’s state funeral, including all public events, are pending.
The Carter Center said the schedule will be released by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region at https://jtfncr.mdw.army.mil/statefunerals/.
