The battle over banning transgender procedures on minors in Missouri is set to resume next year.
A state law that bans transgender procedures on minors in Missouri is set to expire in August of 2027. That would change under a pre-filed bill in the Missouri Senate, which would make the ban permanent. The measure would also legally redefine the phrase “reproductive healthcare” to not include gender transition surgeries or use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. It’s sponsored by Sen. Mike Moon, R-Ash Grove, who sponsored the Missouri SAFE Act in 2023.
A similar bill has been pre-filed in the Missouri House. It’s sponsored by State Rep. Hardy Billington, R-Poplar Bluff.
The 2025 Missouri legislative session begins January 8th.
