(Washington, D.C.) – President-elect Donald Trump has chosen a former Missouri attorney general candidate to be on his White House staff. Republican Will Scharf will serve as Trump’s assistant and White House staff secretary.

Scharf unsuccessfully ran for attorney general in Missouri’s August primary election this year. Current Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey won the Republican nomination and went on to win in the general election.

He was a federal prosecutor and former staffer under former Gov. Eric Greitens.

Scharf was on Trump’s legal team in a presidential immunity U.S. Supreme Court case, as well as a New York trial over hush money given to a porn star.

In his new role, Scharf will decide which memos, reports, and briefings will go to the president and who will be the one to talk about issues. He will manage the paper flow and work closely with Trump.
