(Washington, D.C.) — President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz to serve as the next U.S. attorney general. The nomination is getting mixed reviews from Democrats and Republicans.

Kansas City Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, a Democrat, said choosing Gaetz is a “twisted perversion of justice.”

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct and illegal drugs. The U.S. House Ethics Committee is also expected to release a report soon of its own investigation into Gaetz’s actions.

Cleaver joins a few Republican Senators, such as Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, who have voiced concerns over the nomination.

In support of Gaetz’s nomination is southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison, a Republican from Springfield.

Gaetz has already resigned from his U.S. House position. Confirmation hearings don’t begin until next year.

Gaetz might have to call in a few favors. The U.S. Senate’s party breakdown is tight.
