(Jefferson City, MO) — The Missouri Department of Mental Health says it is in the process of notifying 537 people that their personal information was disclosed in an email. Upon discovery, the agency said it took immediate steps to prevent further disclosure.
In a news release, the agency said it was notified on November 5 of a consumer list that was unintentionally sent to 12 people associated with other state agencies or community partner organizations. The list was emailed on November 1. It contained first and last names, housing provider referral information, birthdates, department client numbers and Social Security numbers.
According to the department, it does not have any reason to believe the information was read or used by anyone intending harm.
The agency said it is mailing written notices to people whose information was affected.
