Republican Mike Kehoe has won election to be Missouri’s next governor. He assumed the stage before hundreds of his supporters Tuesday night, touting his life experiences that he says helps him represent Missourians.

“If you work hard and love the Lord, you can get anywhere you want in this country,” he said. “That has been the guiding principle in my life. Whenever we saw something that needed to be done, we didn’t complain, we prayed hard, and we worked hard. That’s what let us get started into business. It’s why I ran for state senate. It’s why I answered Governor Parson’s call to serve as Lieutenant Governor and that’s why we ran for governor.”

The current lieutenant governor said a day one priority is to fight crime in urban and rural Missouri. Kehoe said that part of his crime plan would charge fentanyl dealers with murder or attempted murder in overdose cases. In his acceptance speech, he said that the Kehoe Administration is going to roll up its sleeves on day one.

“As soon as my hand comes off the bible, the Kehoe Administration will be relentless in our effort to make Missouri safer,” said Kehoe. “We will ensure that Missouri is a state where it’s easier to be a cop than a criminal. We will not rest until the criminals who make our streets and neighborhoods dangerous are held accountable.”

But that’s not all.

“We’ll focus on reducing taxes and cutting regulations so families can keep more of their own money, so job creators want to come here, expand here, and hire more hard-working Missourians,” he added. “We’re going to strengthen public education to expand school choice so that every single student has the opportunity to get a world class education.”

He wants to focus on making sure that students are prepared for the real world and know their options after they graduate from high school.

Kehoe defeated Democrat Crystal Quade, Libertarian Bill Slantz, and Green Party candidate Paul Lehmann in Tuesday’s general election.
