Missouri continues to dry out, based on the latest U.S. drought monitor map.

More than 94% of Missouri is suffering from a lack of rainfall, with only a few areas in southeastern Missouri and the Bootheel being sufficiently hydrated. Extreme drought is gripping the southwest corner of the state, including areas north of Joplin over to Table Rock Lake.

Severe drought, the next category down, covers most of the Kansas City area and large portions of southwestern and central Missouri. Almost the entire rest of the state is covered by either moderate drought or abnormally dry conditions.

Four months ago, Missouri was almost drought-free due to consistant rainfall, but the latest dry spell has erased the progress made during the summer.
