According to a report from ESPN, Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook has been “extremely limited” in the early week practices following his injury this past Saturday in the Auburn game. According to ESPN’s source, Cook may try to ramp up later in the week to attempt to play, but it doesn’t look good. Also, Mizzou’s leading rusher Nate Noel will miss with a foot injury. The Tigers have a bye week after the Bama game and Noel will be re-evaluated. Noel had 199 yards against Vandy and 122 against Boston College. Marcus Carroll will get the bulk of the carries.
The Chiefs acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick. The fifth-round selection becomes a fourth-rounder if the Chiefs can make the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays at least 60 percent of the team’s snaps. The 12-year veteran is in the final year of a two-year deal he signed with Tennessee in 2023. The 32-year-old has 15 catches for 173 yards and one touchdown through six games played this season. Andy Reid wouldn’t comment on Hopkins’s arrival or when or how much he could play this weekend. The Chiefs are down Hollywood Brown from the preseason. They lost Rashee Rice to season-ending surgery and JuJu Smith-Schuster continues to try to work through a hamstring issue.
The St. Louis Blues won’t have one of their top players for a month-and-a-half. The team announced yesterday that Robert Thomas will miss at least six weeks because of a broken right ankle. Thomas suffered the setback during the third period of Tuesday’s loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The 25-year-old is coming off an 86-point season last year, and he has one goal and five assists in seven games this year. The team did activate Oskar Sundqvist from injured reserve. Sundqvist has been sidelined since suffering a torn ACL in his right knee on March 25 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The team announced an extension for Jake Neighbours yesterday. Neighbours’ new contract is worth seven-and-a-half million dollars over two years. The 22-year-old scored 27 goals last season and has two goals and an assist to start the 2024-25 campaign.
The Blues begin a four-game road trip with a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena tonight. The Blues are coming off a 3-2 loss to the undefeated Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. St. Louis sits in fifth place in the Central Division with eight points and a 4-3-and-0 record. Tonight’s game begins at 6:00 PM.
