Thirteen Red Cross disaster volunteers from Missouri are on their way to the southeastern U.S. as Hurricane Helene approaches Florida and Georgia.
Overall, the American Red Cross has sent around 360 trained disaster workers and several truckloads of supplies to open disaster relief centers in and near the storm’s projected path.
Those wanting to help are encouraged to make a financial donation or donate blood and platelets.
Meanwile, most but not all of Missouri will be spared from any effects from Helene. The Bootheel counties of Pemiscot and Dunklin are under a flood watch through Saturday morning. Locally heavy rain and minor flooding are also possible across other portions of southeastern Missouri, starting Friday.
The current path of Helene has it hitting the Florida gulf coast near Tallahassee and heading north for Atlanta, then turning west when it reaches Tennessee and Kentucky.
