Despite this weekend’s rainfall, Missouri’s drought conditions have been worsening.
The most recent U.S. Drought Monitor map shows 82% of Missouri experiencing some level of dryness, up 4% from the previous week. Nearly 13% of the state is experiencing severe drought conditions, including spots in western, southwest, eastern, and southeast Missouri. Pockets in northwest, northeast, central, southern, and southeast Missouri are not experiencing any drought.
Missouri is no longer under a drought alert, despite the overall drier conditions. The next drought map, due out by Thursday, is expected to show some relief, perhaps most likely in the southeastern portion of the Show-Me State.
