Severe drought has returned to parts of Missouri as the state continues to dry out. More than 80% of Missouri is experiencing some level of dry or drought conditions.

The latest drought monitor map shows severe drought conditions have taken hold in a section of southeastern Missouri that includes New Madrid, Sikeston, Cape Girardeau, and Marble Hill.

Moderate drought conditions cover most of eastern and western Missouri, with abnormally dry conditions covering portions of northern, central, and southwestern Missouri.

The good news, the remnants of Hurricane Francine are expected to move into southeastern Missouri, possibly as early as Friday.
