Four U.S. House members from Missouri are calling for an audit of the U.S. Postal Service’s sorting center in St. Louis County.
Representatives Ann Wagner, Mo. 2nd District, Blaine Luetkemeyer, Mo. 3rd District, Sam Graves, Mo. 6th District, and Jason Smith, Mo. 8th District, all Republicans, said an audit is needed due to mail delivery being “delayed and inconsistent” within their congressional districts. In a letter to the Postmaster General, they specifically mention that some absentee ballots that were postmarked in July did not arrive in time to be counted for the August 5th primaries.
Wagner, Luetkemeyer, Graves, and Smith also said some of their constituents have been charged late fees on bills due to delays in mail service. A copy of their letter can be found here.
The sorting and distribution center is located in Hazelwood, just north of St. Louis-Lambert International Airport.
