There wasn’t going to be overtime. Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh had his mind made up they were going for two and a win after it looked like Lamar Jackson completed a touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely. Replay overturned the call and the Chiefs held on for a 27-20 win as they began their dual Super Bowl title defense.

Speaking of defense, I thought the Chiefs played pretty well. Look, they gave up 452 total yards, that’s no good, but they got pressure on Jackson. Chris Jones sacked him once and stripped the ball from the MVP QB setting up a field goal for the Chiefs. He picked up his rushing yards and Likely burned them for a 49-yard TD early in the fourth quarter, but they also stood tall when needed, forcing Baltimore to attempt three field goals (one missed) and the Ravens were just 1-for-4 in the red zone. In addition, they did a great job of shutting down newcomer Derrick Henry who finished with just 46 yards on 13 carries.

Offensively, how about Xavier Worthy? The dude is fast and he scored his first two career touchdowns and his first came on a reverse. The ironic part about this touchdown is they ran this play in preseason and he fumbled. He told Offensive Coordinator Matt Nagy he thought the play would get a touchdown.

Patrick Mahomes sets the Chiefs franchise record for most passing yards and it came on a play that symbolizes his play. He scrambled, avoided the sack and while on the run hit his favorite target Jason Kelce for a first down gain that left girlfriend Taylor and Momma Kelce hugging in the suite.
