(O’Fallon, MO) — A group of suspected Texas gang members have been arrested after allegedly pulling a scheme to rob an ATM repair man at a St. Louis-area bank.
A technician was fixing an O’Fallon bank’s cash machine in the middle of the night on August 10 when he was pushed to the ground. After threatening to shoot the man, the suspects made off with more than $94,000.
The O’Fallon Police Department said the group planned the robbery, known as “jugging,” which involves damaging an ATM in order to dispatch a repair technician. The thieves then wait nearby to attack the victim and steal the ATM money.
KTVI-TV in St. Louis reported that a GPS tracker on the getaway rental car and security video helped police to catch the Bank of America robbery suspects.
