Despite drought conditions rebounding, Missouri is no longer under a drought alert.

Gov. Mike Parson’s office confirmed to Missourinet that the alert would expire on September 1st as planned.

Under the governor’s executive order about drought, some state regulations were waived, such as emergency water pumping and haying opportunities on public land for farmers, the monitoring of drinking water capacity, and permits for extra large loads of hay being transported.

The latest drought monitor shows moderate drought covering the northern half of the Kansas City area, along with portions of southeast, southwest, and far western Missouri. Large areas of abnormally dry conditions cover portions of far western and far eastern Missouri, north-central Missouri, and the Bootheel region.

Missouri had been under a drought alert since May of 2023.
