Former First Lady Michelle Obama is known for saying, “When they go low, we go high.” But not last night at the Democratic National Convention. She had fighting words.
Sen. Barbara Washington, D-Kansas City, said she was encouraged by the speech.
“Michelle Obama’s speech was finally about more fight than four years ago, it was when they go low, we go high. She didn’t say that last night. She’s like, when they go low, punch them in the gut. And I think we need to hear that in Missouri,” Washington told Missourinet. “Especially as a super minority, the only way we’re going to be able to win is we’re going to have to fight. We don’t have to be dirty, but we do have to fight. We have to let them know we are the Show Me State. But it’s time for us to show you what we can do. And in the words of Harry Truman, ‘The buck stops here.’ We are not going to continue to allow the foolishness of the Freedom Caucus and other folks.”
Washington, a DNC delegate, is taking the experience in.
“So, I’ve not been to a convention before, but what I do see is that the energy for Kamala is high. I think the energy might be higher than Obama,” said Washington. “Bernie is already on board. Hillary’s on board. Obama’s on board. Everybody is on board because they know that the future of our country is Kamala Harris.”
Donald Trump’s campaign said Democrats focus on Trump over the issues, such as the problems at the border and higher inflation.
