MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna has been named president and CEO of a transportation think tank in Washington, D.C.

McKenna announced earlier this month that he was stepping down as director of the Missouri Department of Transportation but did not disclose his future plans. He will be going to work for the Eno Center for Transportation, a non-profit group that states its mission as providing transportation research to government and industry leaders.

He took over the reins of MoDOT in December of 2015 after serving as deputy commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. During his tenure, he also served a one-year term as president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Before joining New Hampshire’s transportation department, he spent 13 years in Washington working for the U.S. Senate, which included a stint as the chamber’s chief financial officer.

McKenna is scheduled to take over as Eno’s CEO on October 7th.
