Physician and former State Senator Bob Onder is moving onto November’s general election after winning the Republican primary for Missouri’s Third District congressional seat. He edged out former State Senator Kurt Schaefer 47% to 37% percent in Tuesday’s unofficial results.

Onder told Missourinet that he’s confident he will win and that he can even draw some Democrats to vote for him.

“We’re seeing on the national level, and in Missouri, we’re seeing more and more traditional Democrat voters come over to support Donald Trump and JD Vance,” he said. “So, you know, I’m really honored to be running on the same platform.”

He’ll now face Democrat Bethany Mann in the November general election, but he thinks he’ll be able to draw “blue” voters away from her and to his side.

“The idea of making America prosperous again, securing our borders and public safety, the idea of making America energy independent again, of lowering inflation, of improving education — I think those are issues that all Americans can agree on,” he said.

The winner will replace Republican Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, who’s retiring at the end of the year.
