The 2024 Republican National Convention has wrapped up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and several Missouri Republicans are headed back from the event.
Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, R-Arnold, participated in the convention, but was not a delegate. She said that the most powerful speeches came from everyday moms.
“Not the moms who are, I mean, obviously they’re doing a wonderful job, too, like Laura Trump and Sarah Huckabee (Sanders), but the everyday moms who have been affected by the failed Biden Administration, failed Biden policies, the open border,” explained Coleman.
Donald Trump and JD Vance received the official nomination for president and vice president at the RNC.
“I got to tell you, I’m left just with an incredible sense of hope for our country, gratitude to God for saving President Trump’s life. But also, really, gratitude for all the moms who are out there fighting for their kids because you and I both know that there is nobody like a momma bear fighting for her kids, fighting for their future to get things done,” Coleman said.
She took aim at what she called the Biden Administration’s “open door” immigration policy at the southern border. However, Alex Floyd with the Democratic National Committee, says that President Biden has taken “real action” to secure the border, leading to a decline in illegal border crossings.
Coleman is running for the Republican nomination for Missouri Secretary of State in the August primary election. Other candidates include Republicans Valentina Gomez, Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller, Sen. Denny Hoskins, GOP operative Jamie Corley, Missouri House Speaker Dean Plocher, Rep. Adam Schwadron, and Mike Carter.
Democrats include Rep. Barbara Phifer, Monique Williams, and Haley Jacobson.
The Libertarian on the ballot is Carl Freese of Foristell.
