After last Saturday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, security at this week’s Republican National Convention has been in full force.
Sen. Jason Bean, R-Holcomb, is serving as a congressional delegate for Missouri. He told Missourinet that the increased security has made him feel safe.
“I mean, you cannot look anywhere without seeing law enforcement or security whether that be secret service, FBI, we’ve got Missouri State Troopers up here,” Bean said. “We’ve got 30 Missouri State Troopers, troopers from other states as well. So, security is extremely, you know, visible and here and, I mean, it actually makes me feel pretty good.”
A “fired up” GOP is how Bean described the convention. Bean said that the attempted assassination on Trump “fired up” the party with chants of “fight, fight, fight” and “USA.”
“All the speakers, 100% support behind Donald J. Trump and JD Vance for Vice President,” Bean said. “All of them bring very meaningful messages. I guess, so far, having the teamsters there was definitely an eye-opening person to have there to see the teamsters get behind Donald J. Trump.”

On announcing JD Vance for Trump’s VP pick, Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison says that Vance “embodies MAGA – with an out-of-touch extreme agenda” saying that a Trump-Vance ticket would “undermine our democracy.”
The convention concludes this evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
