Passenger train service has resumed between St. Louis and Kansas City after being shut down for nearly two days.

A Missouri River Runner Amtrak train derailed Monday afternoon after striking a tree that had fallen onto the tracks near Washington, Missouri, west of St. Louis. Heavy rainfall earlier in the week caused a mudslide that uprooted the tree and left it on the railroad track.

No one was injured Monday and Amtrak passengers were transferred to buses Monday evening and all day Tuesday.
