The latest version of the federal defense bill contains an amendment written by U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo. 6th District.

The amendment would provide $220 million for two additional C-130J cargo planes, which Graves hopes will be stationed at Rosecrans Air National Guard base in St. Joseph. The base missed out on last year’s awarding of C-130J planes, which currently uses the older generation C-130H cargo planes.

The main bill would also provide nearly $2 billion for the new B-21 Raider stealth bombers which will be stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The B-21’s will eventually replace the current B-2 stealth bombers.

The National Defense Authorization bill is on its way to the U.S. Senate, which has its own version of the measure.
