Many Missouri businesses are closed today to observe Memorial Day.

All state and federal offices will be closed, except for the essential services, such as corrections, law enforcement, and healthcare settings.

Banks will be closed today and there will be no mail delivery.

Law enforcement officers will be patrolling the roads and water today, looking for speeders and drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Every available state trooper will be out working to enforce Missouri’s traffic laws and helping drivers.

With the unofficial kickoff to summer, Missouri’s state parks and beaches are also expected to be happening places, along with airports around the state.

Several Memorial Day events are being held today across the state to honor America’s war heroes who have died. The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City is giving free admission to veterans and active-duty military through Monday. General admission is half price for the public.

Weekend events include a Vietnam War-era Huey helicopter display through Monday. A Memorial Day ceremony will be held there at 10 a.m. on Monday, along with a Walk of Honor Brick Dedication at 2 p.m. There will also be a “Flags of Forgotten Soldiers” display through Monday.
