Gov. Mike Parson is set to fly to Italy on Saturday for possibly his last trade mission as Missouri’s CEO.

The governor and First Lady Teresa Parson will travel to the southern European country, along with a group of other state officials. They’ll meet in Rome and Milan with companies that already have a presence in Missouri and some that don’t in hopes of getting them to do business with the Show-Me State.

Missouri exported $169 million in goods to Italy last year, according to a statement from the governor’s office.

The trip is being paid for by the Hawthorn Foundation, which has used private funding to pay for Missouri’s trade missions since the early 1980’s. The trip to Italy will be Parson’s eighth trade mission as Missouri governor.
