A fallen U.S. Marine from Missouri is scheduled to return home Friday.

A Hero’s Homecoming” is the name of the event organized to pay respects to Sgt. Colin Arslanbas, who was killed last month in a North Carolina military training exercise. Hundreds of people have signed up to line the streets to honor the 24-year-old.

The route will go from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, down I-70, to the Cave Springs Exit in St. Charles. Expect to see droves of people holding the American flag along area bridges and highways.

Arslanbas was recently promoted to sergeant. He was assigned to the Maritime Special Purpose Force, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

His military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

Details surrounding the military accident at Camp Lejeune have not been released.

The family plans to have a private funeral for Arslanbas.
