Senate considers raising penalties for fleeing, resisting, or interfering with arrest (LISTEN)

A bill designed to toughen penalties against suspects in police chases is on its way to the Missouri Senate.

The House of Representatives passed Valentine’s Law, which would make it a Class D felony to recklessly flee from or detain law enforcement using a motor vehicle. The bill is named after St. Louis County Police Detective Tony Valentine, who was killed in 2021 when a fleeing suspect crashed head-on into his patrol car.

Anthony Morabith speaks with Rep. Justin Sparks, R-Wildwood, on Show Me Today.
