You can once again drive directly from Missouri to Kentucky.

The Dorena/Hickman Ferry has resumed service between the two towns after a number of closures during December due to low water levels. The ferry carries auto traffic across the Mississippi River at Dorena, located in the Missouri Bootheel, to Hickman, Kentucky.

There is no bridge connecting the two states, making the ferry the only way you can drive from Missouri to Kentucky without having to detour through Illinois or Tennessee to get there.

The Dorena/Hickman Ferry only operates during daylight hours. Crossing fees vary per vehicle size, but start at $20.
