State Rep. Sarah Unsicker, D-Shrewsbury, has announced that she is running for governor.

This news follows her dropout of the Missouri Attorney General’s race and her removal from the Missouri House Democratic Caucus last month.

Unsicker was removed from the caucus because she alleged that her Democratic primary opponent in the Missouri Attorney General’s race, Elad Gross, who is Jewish, was foreign agent of Israel. In a string of social media posts, Unsicker also posted a photo of herself with Charles Johnson, who is considered a Holocaust denier.

Shortly after, Unsicker dropped out of the Attorney General’s race. She called her dropout a ‘conflict of interest.’

While Unsicker hasn’t officially filed to run for governor yet, she would be joining a Democratic primary field against Missouri House Minority Leader Crystal Quade and Springfield fast-food entrepreneur Mike Hamra.

Republicans running for governor include Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe, Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, and state Sen. Bill Eigel of Weldon Spring.
