Today’s drive home could be chore for some Missourians, especially in the northern half of the state. A winter weather system this week dumped rain and snow in parts of the Show Me State.

“The backside of the system that came through yesterday, it’ll be ending from west to east,” according to National Weather Service meteorologist Spencer Mell.

Mell said the winds are expected to pick up, which could create visibility issues for drivers.

“If you have the possibility to stay home today, certainly take that opportunity,” Mell said. “If you have to get out there, just prepare to give yourself extra time.”

Mell said that if you have to leave home, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
