The Blues have fired head coach Craig Berube just 28 games into the season. Drew Bannister will take over as interim head coach. He has served as head coach of the Springfield Thunderbirds, the Blues’ AHL affiliate. Berube finishes his tenure with 206 wins in five-plus seasons after leading the team to their only Stanley Cup.

The Blues are on a four-game losing streak following a 6-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at Enterprise Center. Marco Scandella scored for St. Louis at the end of second period to give the Blues a 4-3 lead, but St. Louis gave up three goals in the final frame. Kevin Hayes scored twice in the losing effort, while Brandon Saad also lit the lamp. The Blues are in sixth-place in the Central Division with 27 points and a 13-14-and-1 record.

St. Louis hosts Ottawa tomorrow night. In other team news, the Blues officially waived forward Jakub Vrana yesterday.
