Columbia-based EquipmentShare is expanding to a new location in Moberly – the company’s seventh Missouri location. When fully operational, it will employ about 150 people at the site, with an average salary of $46,000.

During a ribbon cutting and open house today, CEO Jabbok Schlacks praised the available workforce.

“There’s really a skilled labor. There’s people that are intelligent, people that actually know how to do things. So we can speed up, we can get going right off the bat. It helps us do our jobs better,” he said. Then really, just like a sports team, if you want to win, we’re not all the pitcher. We’re not all the catcher. We’re not all first base or second base. But each of us doing our jobs correctly and together, we can be a team that actually wins.”

The construction equipment company also has locations in St. Louis, Springfield, Kansas City, Joplin, and Cape Girardeau.

Randy Asbury, president of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation, said the effort to bring EquipmentShare to Moberly goes back to early last year. The price tag of the Columbia-based company’s expansion is about $46 million.

“A lot of effort went into making this happen particularly on EquipmentShare’s part, of course,” he said. “But also on local efforts, state level efforts in regard to local and state incentives, and even on the federal level to make this process occur today.”

Brian Adams, the site manager for the new location, said it will manufacture parts and attachments for the company’s equipment. Amy Susan, EquipmentShare’s communications manager, said the company already has about 40 people at the site, with more coming after new manufacturing equipment is in place.

EquipmentShare started with five people in 2015, and now employs more that 4,800 nationwide.
