(Jefferson City, MO) — Missouri’s minimum wage rate for 2024 will increase to $12.30 per hour, effective January 1. At a minimum, all private businesses are required to pay the $12.30 hourly rate, except some retail and service businesses.

Missouri’s minimum wage law does not apply to public employers, nor does it allow the state’s minimum wage rate to be lower than the federal minimum wage rate.

Missouri’s minimum wage is currently $12 per hour.

In 2018, Missouri voters approved a minimum wage increase of 85 cents per hour each year through 2023.

According to the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, starting in 2024, the minimum wage may increase or decrease each year depending on the cost-of-living changes reflected in the Consumer Price Index.
