It was a good weekend for deer hunters in Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Conservation said in a press release that 90,334 deer were harvested Saturday and Sunday, the opening weekend of November’s firearm deer season. That number is less than last year’s opening November weekend, which saw hunters bagging 93,355 deer, but still higher than the 89,939 bagged two years ago.
This weekend’s harvest numbers include 53,159 antlered bucks, 7,163 button bucks, and 30,012 does. The top three counties in Missouri over the weekend were Franklin County with 2,114 harvested deer, Texas County with 1,825, and Howell County with 1,726.
November’s firearm season runs through the 21st, then the Chronic Wasting Disease portion runs from November 22nd through the 26th in open counties. Also, archery deer season resumes November 22nd and runs through January 24th.
