Carpenter fine after getting hit by pitch

August 16, 2018 By Bill Pollock

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter extended his on-base streak to 33 games with a walk in the fifth inning. It’s the longest current streak in the majors. However, there was a scare two innings later when Carpenter left the game in the seventh after he was hit on the hand by a pitch from Matt Grace.

The good news is the X-rays were negative and Carpenter does not expect to miss any time.
