Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson, R, is on his way to the U.S. military naval base in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii for a ceremony to formally welcome the arrival of a nuclear attack submarine named in honor of the USS Missouri.
The submarine was commissioned in 2010 and has operated in the Atlantic/Mediterranean area of operation. A change of command has transferred the sub to the Pacific Fleet with a home port of in Pearl Harbor alongside the original USS Missouri better known as the “Mighty Missouri.”
In addition to the 80 crew and family members in attendance, Parson will join Hawaii dignitaries and other Navy personnel.
The trip is being sponsored by U.S. military foundations.
