January 23, 2018 By Jason Taylor

Top Stories:  Governor Greitens wants to reduce Missouri’s social services budget by about 40-million dollars in his proposed state budget that begins July 1. His 28.7-billion dollar budget plan includes 11-billion dollars in Medicaid spending – an increase of about 300-million dollars from the current budget year.  And the Missouri Supreme Court will hear arguments today about informed consent laws that set requirements for women before they have abortions. The State contends the law does not establish any religious belief, but simply represents the state’s political and philosophical interest in protecting unborn human life. Attorney James Mac Naughton, who represents a woman referred to as Mary Doe, says consent laws that exist in numerous states illegally bring religion into public policy.
