Royals left-hander Danny Duffy pled guilty to driving under the influence on August 27 in Overland Park, Kansas, a Kansas City suburb.  He was fined one thousand, two hundred and twenty dollars and placed on probation.  He must avoid alcohol and illegal drugs for a year, while being subject to random tests.  The 29-year-old starting pitcher has four years remaining on a sixty-five million dollar contact.

>>Chiefs’ Hunt Wins Rookie Of Year Award

(Undated)  —  Kareem Hunt, who led the NFL in rushing yards, was named the 2017 Rookie of the Year, in a vote by the Professional Football Writers of America.  Hunt rushed for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns.  He was a third-round pick out of Toledo.

>>KU Great White Dies At 71

Though originally from St. Louis, Jo Jo White had ties to the Kansas City and Kansas sports bases.  The former Kansas great and NBA Hall of Famer died at the age of 71 on Tuesday due to cancer.  White had his Number Ten jersey retired by KU and the Boston Celtics, who drafted him in the first round.  White was a two-time NBA champion, Finals MVP, seven-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist during his career.  He played in the NBA 12 seasons, finishing his career in 1982 with the Kansas City Kings. The six-foot-three guard averaged 17.2 points, 4.9 assists and four rebounds per game.  White was also drafted by the Cowboys in the NFL and the Reds for MLB.
