SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — People in Springfield got to see the 21st Annual Multicultural Festival on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday.
The free event was an annual performing arts and community resource expo designed to provide access to different cultures.
More than 40 companies shared information about employment opportunities and diversity services within their business.
The festival also featured a variety of ethnic foods and live performers from around the world.
“It gave people a sense of connection and that really is what the event is about — is connecting people,” said Samuel Knox, the festival coordinator. “And connecting people with resources right here in the Springfield area. We want to really highlight the diverse talent we have here and the wonderful resources we have here in the Ozarks.”
Knox says the festival started as a concept idea in Branson years ago and Unite of Southwest Missouri has since taken the idea and strived to focus on valuing diversity in our community.
