SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – One suspect has been arrested in connection with Friday’s officer-involved shooting that has left another suspect dead. Springfield television station KOLR10 is not using the name of the suspect arrested since he has not been formally charged.

The other suspect, William B. Oleson, 46, was shot during the incident. According to a news release, officers responded Friday afternoon to a call of two armed individuals trying to break into a shed.

Oleson ran to the backyard when the responding officer arrived. That officer caught the suspect in the backyard. Oleson then allegedly pointed a handgun at him. The officer fired his weapon at Oleson, who was struck. He gave aid to Oleson, according to the news release. Oleson died at Mercy Hospital.

The officer was not injured and is on administrative leave.
